Absolute disappoinment. The novel itself has beautiful artwork, and I love the story of Dune. Just look elsewhere for a quality copy. Brian and Kevin continue to milk Frank’s Dune for every dune book collectors edition free download.

Now they are even adapting Frank’s books and putting their names on them at least they still put Frank’s name above theirs. The art is good and I debated about giving this one star since that is unfair to the artists but I can’t in good conscious support Brian and Kevin’s unrelenting commercialization of an IP they did not create and have done nothing to further. The only good thing that can be said is that its brought more readers to Dune but that’s like saying Taco Bell got people to like Mexican food.

The art and panel layout are incredibly dull, flat, square, and honestly boring. The colors are bland, the line work looks traced. No depth or dimension. The book is NOT an adaption of the characters from the new movie, so why they were waiting to release until when the movie was supposed to come out I am unsure. The cover jacket has some nice features, as does the inner binding. The pages are warping almost immediately from poor quality paper.

Their portrayal of the sandworms of Arrakis are particularly stunning. My copy came in on time and in great condition.
